I have a chance to watch Prison Break Season 1& 2 lately….at the end of season 2, I decided to write in here first….

As we all know, the show is about Michael Scofield try to break out from prison in order to save his brother….at first few episodes quite boring to me though…but as the story grows, its getting really interesting…..

Now, the reason I wrote here is to let us think….can any structural engineer does the same as he did? If u ask me, I would answer NO…and I believed that’s make the story interesting even for structural engineers….ehehe…I believe no one can do as he did….WHY?

first, he got the blue print….that the key point…and he enter the prison in purpose to break free from there….he had plan for this carefully for quite some time….so we can expect him to success…but don’t worry Malaysians….coz no inmates in Malaysia can break free with Scofield way….why? because our drainage and sewage system is different from what in US….we did not provide any access way or room to all the pipes in our buildings…kalau ada pun, yang atas siling which is really sempit and you all know that the ceiling can break down if anyone is on it…plus the ceiling usually not continues and attach to the beams….so, Malaysian cannot do that way….

So how about if we are in US, for example….still I don’t think we can do that….because secondly, Scofield is a genius…remember how he broke the wall using ‘the egg tool’…I don’t know what we call it….and remember how he can estimate how much longer they need to dig the concrete and do the planning of escaping….now, that’s the success key for them to break free…

Watching prison break, I can see how someone innocent or unrelated turns themselves into wrongs paths….we can see how stupid some of the characters in the series…obviously, we can see how the greedy Brad Bellick turns himself into Fox River inmates, and again in Panama he was accuse of murder….the FBI agent, Alex Mohane forced to do things he did not want to do, and in the end unable to reunite with his family….the former CO, Gary get killed by T-bag because of his greed…Terrance Steadman live in his own house prison and killed himself in the end, Reynolds in the end quit being the President….and the list goes on…

We can see the pattern of how things become this way…first, greedy….second, to protect themselves and last, but not least to protect what the one their love….

Back to topic…I wonder if I’m capable to be become a good structural engineer…in sense of I know the theory behind a strong structure, or the weakness that a structure holds…I do know that being an engineer is not as simple like we did our assignment or project back in our U…I hope I can make it when the time comes….

To all my classmate, congratulation on our graduation soon….to those whom already became an engineer, I hope u guys be great in your jobs…not to forget also to my friends that chosen to be teacher or lecturer…it’s a good job anyway…don’t be frustrated….ehehe…till then…adios…
