Greetings to all.

I’m never expect myself to write about TVXQ three entries in a row. But, i think i need to make some correction to my previous entry. And  seem like everyone start to aware about this especially after TVXQ become trending topic at twitter for more than 9 hours yesterday.

When it all start?

One major event happened yesterday was an official press conference attend by Hero, Micky & Xiah to clarify the real situation. And thanks also to that fake “jeajoong” tweet to fans around 3pm (GMT+8), plus reply from fans as well as fans discussing among themselves, TVXQ listed at rank 6 or 7 at twitter trending topic at 5pm (GMT+8). And in 30 minutes, it manage to second rank….thanks also to that crap #musicmonday spammers & bot that keep conquering trending topic at that time (if not because of that…we will get no1…ciss). As a fans, i’m proud that TVXQ listed here. All Cassiopeia (TVXQ/DBSK’s fans) do, & with real tweets (not by spammer & bot)….TVXQ was able to be at second ranking of trending topic. Only after that, cassie start to spam TVXQ at twitter & thats help it stay listed in trending topic for more than 8 hours. I’m proud of this, cause this one way for cassie shows our support to TVXQ during their tough time.

Update: TVQX manage to get no no #1 ranking. I’m not sure what time they manage to get no #1, but i’m really proud of it. Sayangnye tak dapat menyaksikan detik-detik yang dinantikan itu…. [Source & pic: dbsknight]

Wait, whats this all about?

Okay, for those whom don’t have any idea what going on…please read my previous post TVXQ~Please do not disband!!! & 24 hours of worrisome moment as TVXQ’s fans. Briefly, it’s start when Hero Jeajoong, Xiah Junsu & Micky Yuuchun filed an injunction against SM Entertainment to remove the “non exclusivity clause” in their contract. Okay, here my correction for previous post regarding the situation. According to SME, this injunction only regarding to cosmetic business issue. But the real thing is the boys really want to change the term of contact which they cannot stand anymore.

Xiah, hero, and micky made public announce through SeJong, on August 3rd.

They said, “During the five years after our debut, we were getting really tired mentally and physically because of the one-sided schedule of SM. The beauty business does not have any relationship with this situation.”

here is the original interview.

1. During the five years after their debut, the three members were getting really tired mentally and physically because of the one-sided schedule of company.

Xiah, hero, and micky are the members of group TVXQ and they made debut in 2004. They had to travel Korea, Japan, and China and perform their schedules by sleeping only 3~4 hours a day except a week in a year by their management company, SM`s instructions. Their mental and physical health conditions were getting so worse because of the tired schedules, but SM tried to enter them to abroad and made unreasonable one-sided schedules. Finally, the three members realized that they cannot achieve what they want as artists in SM, and would be used as just tools to make profit of SM.

2. The period of 13 years actually means whole life contract.

however, according to TVXQ’s contract, the contract period is 13 years and would be more than 15 years including military service. And it means more than 10 years are remaining and it would be whole life contract that until when they would retire. And if they break the contract, they should pay more than three times of investment or two times of profit. Although they break the contract with the mutual agreement with SM, TVXQ have to pay the money. In other words, it was actually impossible to break the contract, so they had to follow them.

3. The members never got appropriate treatment that reflects how they tried.

It does not mean the members got appropriate treatment that reflects how they tried. Not only there was no deposit, but also they could get less than 10 thousand dollars only in the situation when the albums were sold more than a half million, and if not, they could not get any money, according to the first contract. This was changed on Feb 6, 2009, but each member still can gain only 0.4~1% of their album sales, yet the percentage can vary.

4. The members requested the changes of the inappropriate contract several times, but SM did not care.

In this situation, three members requested the changes of the inappropriate contract several times, but SM raised an issue about the beauty business that has nothing with this situation. Nevertheless, the three members want to find a way to smooth over the problem and finally requested a conversation to SM, but it did not answer it. Also, the attitude it showed us made them realized they cannot solve the problem with the conversation, and finally three members wants to use the legal way to solve this problem.

5. The beauty business investment is not related to the entertainment activities and also has nothing with this situation. The true essence of this situation would be inappropriate contract.

On the other hand, SM made a public announcement that members made provisional disposition because of the beauty business investment, but the beauty business investments nothing with this situation. The beauty business investment that SM made an issue is about the investment that three members invested to the beauty company entering to China, and it is a financial investment that has no relationship with entertainment activities. It does not make sense that `the members made provisional disposition that they might forgive everything they achieved as TVXQ because they invested almost a hundred thousand dollars of money to the beauty company entering to China`. The true essence that the members wants to talk about of this situation would be inappropriate contract, and SM should stop trying to make an excuse immediately by telling about the beauty business investment that has nothing with this situation.

6. the members does not want to disorganize TVXQ and just try to get rid of inappropriate contract.

Lots of fans are worried about disorganization of TVXQ about this situation. however, making provisional disposition does not on the disorganization of TVXQ. Now, three members are participating the provisional disposition because of the difference of ideas about the way to solve the problem, but there is no problem between the members, and they are as same as the past that they want to keep promise they made with fans that they would be one forever together. If this situation change the inappropriate contract and they can do what they want as artists, everyone can be together as one in front of the fans.

7. We will think it as the chance to be more mature.

We are sorry that fans who care about TVXQ may surprised a lot and be disappointed, but if you try to think it would be the chance to be more mature for bigger dream, and cheer us, we will promise to compensate you as more mature TVXQ.

P.S. To help your understanding as to why the number 3 of this article absolutely does not make any sense, it must be noted that there has been not many artists whose albums has been sold over 500,000 copies for almost a decade. On average, only about 100,000 copies are sold per album in the Korean music industry.

How bad is this thing?

Maybe for you become a twitter trending topic, chaos at Soompi forum and attention over internet article is not great enough. But this issue really give big impact especially to both parties: SME & TVXQ.

• It was reported by Forbes that due to TVXQ’s disbanding rumors, SM Entertainment stock price drop more than 10% yesterday.
• At this moment the future of TVXQ is unpredictable. Fans predict there will be a problem to TVXQ’s nearest concert since Jeajoong, Junsu & Yuchun might not be able to participate in those concert. Yet since the ticket have been sold, this might bring financial problem to the company if the concert were to be cancelled. (click image to enlarge)
  
• This issue being seriously discussed not only by Korean media, but also by Japan media. Thai media & Singapore media do write about this issue as well.

Price of Fame

I also found an article which actually wrote a year before. This is not directly related to TVXQ issue, also not 100% reliable/true…but it give us some ideas the pain most korean artis undergone to be whom their are now:

For me, this issue is like an awakening bell for us to realize that the fame that these artist get was through a ‘killing’ hard work. We used to hear most of korean actor only sleep for 3-4 hours a day. Lee Min Ho himself said that during Boys Over Flower shooting, he usually only sleep for 1 to 2 hours a day, and only sometime manage to sleep 3-4 hours a day. This tiredness exposed them to much dangerous situation like how most of Boys Over Flower casts involve in accident. I just hope that our cute little KiDong wont have to suffer all this later on.

For TVXQ themself, their work hard is undeniable like what fans writing in the image above (taken from soompi forum). Dan ingat cerpen To Dubai With Love episode 2 yang aku tulis Yunho cedera tulang kaki & tulang belakang tapi masih go on ngan konsert kat KL…well, aku tulis berdasarkan fakta. So, even though i’m not their loyal fan that always follow-up on their update, but i do understand why JeaSuChun bring this matter to courts. Yet, i do & still worried about their future. This matter won’t be settle overnight, yet i’m hoping it will solve in a way which bring less damage to everyone.

[TRANS] 09.08.04 TVXQ, The International Fans’ Worried Hearts…

Fans from all over the world are showing their worry and support for TVXQ. They are sending letters that all say one thing: regardless of the current dispute between SM and the three members, the fans will support TVXQ no matter what and a disbandment is not something they want.

On the international UCC site ‘Youtube’, the video that lasts around 5 minutes showing hundreds and hundreds of letters addressed to TVXQ was uploaded on the 4th.

They expressd their feelings with shaky Korean penmanship, but also confessed their thoughts through their native tongues or English. They all had the same message of ‘Forever as 5′ and ‘Always keep the faith.’

TVXQ’s influence in the world could be seen from the people’s names and the stated countries. Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Finland, Japan, UK, USA, Peru, Brunei, France, Sri Lanka…

The multicultural fans called TVXQ various names such as ‘DBSK’, ‘TVXQ’, ‘TBXQ’

Janice, a Mexican fan stated, “Whatever happens, we will always be by your side. We pray for you.” Tiffany, a Peruvian fan said, “We have always been proud of you,” to express the pain she was feeling over this situation. Other than this, Dara, an Indonesian fan, hoped for a always-together TVXQ by writing “5-1=0 and 5-2=0″ Liana of Germany said, “Don’t give up.”

On Korean internet sites as well, voices of encouragement and support have been pouring out like a flood. On Agora, a “Against TVXQ’s Disbandment” petition has gained around 21,700 signatures. Fan sites are filled with posts about the fans’ feelings of worry.

There have been a couple of extreme cases though. One of which read, “Maybe if we all just committ suicide, they won’t disband.”

It seems that it is up to the courts to decide the fate of TVXQ, no matter what the fans say. On the 4th, the three members’ representative, Sejong, stated a rebuttal that attacked SM’s previous statements and that said that the truth would be revealed in court and they were willing to fight for that truth. SM Entertainment has begun silencing the people in their agency from answering questions from reporters and they seem to be busy preparing their side for the case.
